Helping Domestic Violence Victims and Their Pets

About:

Purple Rescues Incorporated is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to offering a safe haven for pets of domestic violence victims. We care for pets of domestic violence victims while they seek shelter and safety away from their current abusive situation. The organization is a non-profit 501(c)3 charity and is accepting tax-deuctable donations.

Purple Rescues Incorporated is staffed by volunteers, our main goals are:

  • Remove animals from abusive situations to allow vicitms to seek shelter and safety
  • Provide peace of mind to abuse victims that their pets are being taken care of and will be reunited with them
  • Help vicitms connect to different organizations for resources in order to gain stability
  • Reduce animals that have to be given up to shleters, therfore reducing the shelter population

Mission:

Abuse has many different shapes, types, and forms. We, at Purple Rescues Incorporated, believe that no one should have to give up their pet to seek safety away from abuse. It is recognized that victims can be manipulated via a pet’s life to stay in the abusive situation. We offer a safe haven for pets while safety and stability are restored to the pet owner. A contract to reclaim their pet is required and a copy is provided to the owner. Veterinarian visits and supplies are still covered at the owner’s expense. Unless funds are available via donations to assist the organization on our mission. All victim information is kept confidential. At this moment we are serving the Mid-Southwest area of Florida, but we are looking to grow state-wide as the organization grows.

 How Your Donations Help Us
Your donations help us with supplies such as food, litter, leashes, water/food bowls, and things that may have been left behind by the owners seeking safe shelter. At times, veterinarian expenses may need to be be covered. All animals we take into the shelter will be required to be spayed/neutered and up to date on their vaccines. This will help cut down on over population at local shelters in the future.
Domestic Violence

These pets can act like therapy animals for those suffering from abuse. Sometimes pets can be abused too. Both need to be able to heal and be safe.
